The National Trust: Visiting Cliveden

The house and gardens at Cliveden is a place that holds lots of memories for me...
Since I was very little it has been a place where my family would take us for long walks, outdoor performances and picnics. Rolling down hills, racing through mazes, secret fountains and the excitement of finding the forest floor and tree roots shaped into stairways are all moments that I associate with Cliveden. So when we visited it this bank holiday I decided to capture and share with you some glimpses of this brilliant National Trust land.

Here's my five favourite things to do when visiting:

  • Feed the Koi fish in the Water Gardens
  • Race up the steps from the river to the house
  • Stop for tea and cake in the Orangery
  • Look out for wildlife along the trails and river
  • Browse the National Trust shop*

(*stay tuned to see what I picked up this weekend; post coming soon!)

My favourite summer picks from bareMinerals...

bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream £24

First up is bareMinerals' -  new for summer - 'Complexion Rescue' tinted moisturiser. Whilst abroad in Costa Rica a friend lent me this to use one day and after that I was hooked. If you're a regular reader you'll know how addicted I am to The Body Shop's Virgin Minerals Liquid Foundation but for the summer months I always find it way too heavy and thick for every day wear. In the summer you want your base to be light, natural and healthy looking. Complexion Rescue offers all of this and more in ten gorgeous shades. I've never been a fan of tinted moisturisers as I found the coverage too light and often patchy. With it's gel formula however Complexion Rescue reminds me more of a tinted primer than a moisturiser and it glides on flawlessly. Plus, it's pigmented enough to be buildable so coverage is completely adjustable from light to medium to full. I bought the complexion rescue gel with bareMinerals' Smoothing Face Brush, I've really loved the duo so far and would highly recommend using them together.

bareMinerals Warmth All-Over-Face-Colour £20 and Ready blush in shade 'The French Kiss' £22

My next summer essential from bareMinerals is their All Over Face Colour in Warmth and "Ready" blush in shade 'The French Kiss'. The All Over Face powder in Warmth has long been on my 'to try' list as I'm constantly hearing rave reviews. It's a dark warm matte shade and very highly pigmented so a little goes a long way. I find that tapping my brush into the pot, swirling it in the lid and then tapping again to remove any excess allows me to pick up just enough colour and avoiding going too dark. It has a natural brown hue as opposed to orange so it looks really natural and adds a touch of warmth to any foundation or base helping you create a radiant summery look! The Ready blush is perfect for finishing off any look with a pop of natural rosy colour to the cheeks. Again, it is highly pigmented but I was impressed with how well it blends in. For both of these products however I find that if you have dry skin they have a tendency to settle into and pick up any dry patches of skin quite a bit - so a good moisturiser is key to either of these!
